Last week, the Pro Series Golf N-Gage game’s page went offline and the downloads were pulled up from the Showroom leaving all the PSG owners stranded in case they wanted to re-install the game. Ovi Maps beta for mobile now available at the Ovi Store

At the Nokia World 2009, Nokia had announced the availability of Ovi Maps beta for mobile for the S60v5 Touch Screen phones. Till now, it was only available via the Nokia Betalabs.

Now, Ovi Maps beta for mobile is also available from the Ovi Store.

Mibli – Microsoft OneApp Now Available for Download

On the 24th of August, Microsoft had announced a new software that allows “feature phones” to run popular mobile phone applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live Messenger and Mobile Wallet. It was named Microsoft OneApp. You can read the press release here.

Microsoft OneApp is a new software application that enables feature phones—commonly found in emerging markets—to access mobile apps like Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live Messenger, and other popular apps and games. Now, people around the world who own feature phones will be able to do more and enjoy a better mobile experience with their existing phones.

According to Microsoft, OneApp will be offered initially through partners in emerging markets worldwide. When it was announced, it was available only in South Africa via Blue Label Telecoms. But it is now available for download for everybody from any country.

To download & try out Microsoft OneApp, visit http://m.mibli.com from your phone. The setup is a small 150kb jar setup, which means any phone supporting java apps should be able to use OneApp.

The classic snake game. Something which the new Nokia’s don’t come with.

There were a lot of other apps like mobiWallet, Downloads, miLocate, But they require you to verify your number by sending a SMS. Although I tried it, Mibli was not able to send the SMS.

New Arrivals / Updates at the Ovi Store – September 8th

New and updated apps & content are now live at the Ovi Store. This update comes 2 weeks after the last update. So much for the “500 items added to the store every week” claims.

We have already mentioned that the YouTube Mobile App for S60 is now available at the store, but that wasn’t the only app to be added. To check all of the new & updated content, we recommend that you visit the store & view the “Most Recent” additions to the store. Here are some of the apps from the latest update.

1. Advanced Blocker

AB helps you filter unwanted voice, video calls, text messages, MMS and WAP Push messages. You no longer need to turn off your phone just to avoid interruptions – just enable AB and leave it to the software to filter unwanted and unimportant calls and messages while you enjoy your privacy. AB will instantly and silently block events from blacklisted contacts or rules -phone number patterns, messages containing a text pattern or groups of callers. AB requires to install application library.

Probably another update as I remember seeing this app. in the store previously, never the less, a recommended app.

The Official YouTube S60 App Now Available from the Ovi Store

Just yesterday, we tweeted about how long it had been since new content had been added to the Ovi Store. Seems like the Ovi Store guys heard us as a fresh lot of new items & updates were pushed to the store late yesterday night. Amongst the slew up new apps available at the store now is the official S60 version of the YouTube mobile app. Although the app had been available from the YouTube mobile site for a few countries, the store version seems to be available for even more countries.

“This is the official free mobile application from YouTube ™. We’ve been working hard to offer better speed, quality, and robustness in the YouTube mobile application for Nokia Series 60 devices. The application will alert you as more improvements become available, so keep an eye out for updates.”

As if becoming the trend with the store, the version available at the store is not the latest version of the app. The one at the store is v2.2.10, whereas the one available from the YouTube website is v2.2.17.

According the the description of the app at the store, it should prompt you whenever new updates are available, so you should be good with the version available from the store. It should prompt you for the update soon enough.
