Microsoft OneApp is a new software application that enables feature phones—commonly found in emerging markets—to access mobile apps like Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live Messenger, and other popular apps and games. Now, people around the world who own feature phones will be able to do more and enjoy a better mobile experience with their existing phones.

According to Microsoft, OneApp will be offered initially through partners in emerging markets worldwide. When it was announced, it was available only in South Africa via Blue Label Telecoms. But it is now available for download for everybody from any country.

To download & try out Microsoft OneApp, visit http://m.mibli.com from your phone. The setup is a small 150kb jar setup, which means any phone supporting java apps should be able to use OneApp.

Facebook

The facebook app of OneApp. It is surprisingly pretty good. Even lets you capture, upload & view your photos.

Twitter

Tweetlite – OneApp’s Twitter client. A simply client, with a timeline, friends & inbox view. Lets you reply, retweet, forward a tweet as a SMS & open links from the tweet.

Reader

Stay informed. Access the latest sport, fashion, entertainment and news.

Snake

The classic snake game. Something which the new Nokia’s don’t come with.

There were a lot of other apps like mobiWallet, Downloads, miLocate, But they require you to verify your number by sending a SMS. Although I tried it, Mibli was not able to send the SMS.

2. Nokia Handwriting Calculator

Another release of the Nokia Beta Labs, Handwriting Calculator is a showcase of Nokia’s new handwriting recognition technology. It allows you to calculate handwritten math expressions using the stylus as the writing instrument.

As with the Photo Browser, this an experimental beta too. There might be hiccups, but its simply too cool to not have on your phone.

4. AccuWeather.com WRT Widget

The N97 ships with the AccuWeather.com WRT Widget, but for some reason, instead of the widget being installed on the 32GB mass storage, it is installed on the meager phone memory of the N97. Now you can uninstall the widget from phone memory and install it onto the mass storage, thereby recovering the crucial phone memory.

The best part of the AccuWeather.com widget is that it supports the widget based N97 homescreen, which means that you can set the widget to show the current weather on the homescreen all the time!

We have already reviewed Nimbuzz here on OviApplications. It is the “One app to IM them all!”

Off all the messenger apps available on the Ovi Store like Palringo, Fring, Eqo, we found Nimbuzz to be the best of the lot.

Chat with your friends on Yahoo!, Windows Live, Facebook, MySpace, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk or talk to them using Skype, Gizmo5 or any other VoIP service.

The N97 includes a Compass. But the only place it is used is in the Ovi Maps applications.

Loving that tune being played in the bar but can’t remember which song it is? Fire up Shazam and let it recognize that song for you. With a free for use trial till November 30th, This one deserves to be present on your N97 as well.

Love to tweet? But not willing to pay for Gravity, the popular S60 twitter app? Dabr is just the right kind of service for you. It is a mobile optimized website for twitter. Dabr supports replies, retweets, sending DMs, image previews.

10. MeCanto

Here is a fun flash based app that I think majority of us can use (or is it only me?). Dr. Tie comes to us from the publisher MMMOOO, a leading mobile content and service provider based out of china and offers animation on how to tie in eight different ways with the ability to check the knot frame-by-frame to ensure correct procedure.

I’ve installed the app on 5800 but haven’t had a need for it, yet but since I previously used Youtube videos to learn how to tie my skinny ties (I am man enough to confess, ha!)
