As if becoming the trend with the store, the version available at the store is not the latest version of the app. The one at the store is v2.2.10, whereas the one available from the YouTube website is v2.2.17.

According the the description of the app at the store, it should prompt you whenever new updates are available, so you should be good with the version available from the store. It should prompt you for the update soon enough.

2. Nokia Handwriting Calculator

Another release of the Nokia Beta Labs, Handwriting Calculator is a showcase of Nokia’s new handwriting recognition technology. It allows you to calculate handwritten math expressions using the stylus as the writing instrument.

As with the Photo Browser, this an experimental beta too. There might be hiccups, but its simply too cool to not have on your phone.

The N97 ships with the AccuWeather.com WRT Widget, but for some reason, instead of the widget being installed on the 32GB mass storage, it is installed on the meager phone memory of the N97. Love to tweet? But not willing to pay for Gravity, the popular S60 twitter app? Dabr is just the right kind of service for you. It is a mobile optimized website for twitter. Dabr supports replies, retweets, sending DMs, image previews.

Mobile streaming service is an interesting industry to watch. Services like Qik, Kyte, Flixwagon are all trying to nail down that perfect product offering and grow user adoption. Surly, enough Qik appears to be a popular product in this space and has received significant media coverage. They also seem to have a good relationship with Nokia and begining with this month’s release of Nokia N97, Qik comes pre-loaded onto all Nokia S60 based devices.

But this post is not about Qik but rather to focus on a Swedish start up Bambuser which just recently appeared on the Ovi store. Bambuser is a VC funded company that allows user to stream live videos from a mobile phone using a Wi-Fi or 3G connection. Bambuser also lets user shares their videos elsewhere on the Internet by using embedded video player.  The application also Geo-Tags your position with Google Maps that then appear alongside your videos and makes it easy for others around your area to discover your videos.

What I mostly like about Bambuser is the overall usability of the service. It is extremely easy to set up and start broadcasting and the videos seem to appear on the website almost immediately and without any major hiccups.

Bambuser is also not afraid to go after the big guys and as an entrepreneur myself, I can appreciate that.  They claim that their service is faster than Qik and others because of different technical approach and therefore low latency when broadcasting live streams which is a huge advantage. The service seems to be more popular in Europe than US but with the release of Nokia and iPhone apps, they hope to change that.

Take a look at this video that clearly shows the delay differences between Bambuser and Qik. Again, this is an interesting industry worth watching and I wish the Bambuser team all the success. Look for my interview with CEO Mans Adler later this week.
