Nokia N86 brings Time Lapse photography for everyone

The N86 does it again. This phone simply doesn’t stop surprising me. This time what I stumbled upon is Time Lapse photography in the Camera on the N86. I’ll be reviewing the phone properly at length soon, but till then, I’ll be keeping these posts on the camera tests and new tweaks & features of the N86 coming in.

Nokia N86 8MP gets firmware update v20 with Camera Improvements & Bug Fixes

Nokia N86 8MP has received the much awaited v20 firmware update bringing improvements to the camera including “Face Detection” as well as overall reliability improvements & bug fixes. This is a major firmware update & I would recommend all the N86 owners to update their phones without delay. Although the N86 supports UDP (User Data Preservation) meaning your data will be kept intact during the update, a backup never hurts and is always recommended.

Step by step guide to set up Google Sync on phones with Mail for Exchange pre-integrated

Bought a new phone which came with Nokia Messaging integrated with the default messaging client for emails? You would have noticed that there is no direct access to Mail for Exchange client on these phones like on the other S60v3 phones. That is because Nokia has integrated the Mail for Exchange client with Nokia Messaging on the new S60v3 FP2 phones like the Nokia E75, Nokia E72, Nokia E55, Nokia E52, Nokia N86 8MP and Nokia 6710 Navigator. Due to this, users could not directly configure a Mail for Exchange profile for Google Contacts & Calendar syncing.

Nokia E72 vs E71

Nokia today officially announced the Nokia E72 business smart phone, the successor to widely popular E71. Here is a quick comparison between the two devices:

OS : E72 runs on Symbian S60 3.2 while E72 is on 3.1. Nothing major here but worth mentioning !

Audio: This was a big draw back for many E71 owners. Nokia goes back to standard 3.5 mm mini-jack instead of the 2mm on E71.

Camera: 5MP on E72 instead of the 3.2 on E71.

Memory: E71 can only go up to 8GB while E72 supports up to 16GB. Internal memory on E72 has also been increased to 250MB from 110MB on E71.

Battery : Up to 12h 30m on E72. The previous model E71 can support up to 11hours.

Connectivity: Faster connection on E72 with 10.2 Mbps instead of the 3.2 Mbps on E71.

Size/Weight: E72 is pretty much the same size as E71 but E72 comes at a gram heavier at 128 g.

The Nokia E72 will also include A-GPS and compass with integrated Maps, active noise cancellation and a torch can be activated with a single press of the space bar key. Nokia officials are also The phone will be released in September of this year and will be available in black, Metal grey & Topaz brown. The expected retail price is EURO 350.

Nokia announces 6600i slide

Nokia just announced the 6600i slide phone. The phone is pretty much just an update to 6600 with 3G, 5 megapixel camera, and metal and slimmer shell. It’s also worth to note that the phone runs Series 40 and will support OVI apps and store at the time of the launch.
