4 Apps that I want from Ovi

As Ovi enters its third week of existence and many users still complaining from the lack of content, quality and overall functionalities of the store, I thought I would list 4 apps that I would personally love to see appear on the store.

1- Wordpress

Although there is a way to update Wordpress using email, I would love to see a native S60 app that will allow me to update posts, upload photos, manage comments, edits pages on my blog using a Nokia phone.

2-Fandango (movies.com)

Fandango is a popular movie and ticketing website and I use it almost everytime I go to movies to read movie reviews and ultimetly purchase tickets.  I would love to see a app to help me find movie listings, local movie theaters, show times, and also purchase tickets from my phone.

3- Mint.com

If you are not familiar with Mint.com, then you should take sometime and look into it. Mint is an awesome and free money management and budgeting software that helps users keep track of their finance by aggregating all banking, credit card, mortagage and investment accounts and overview of daily activties. The Nokia mobile app would allow me to check my balances anywhere, track my money, set budgets and and avoid disasters.

4-RSS Feed Reader

I am a huge RSS junkie. One of the things that I miss the most about my blackberry is that Nokia 5800 lacks from a decent RSS management software. I would love to see a Symbian app that syncs with my Google Reader fees every couple hours,  provides a way to read the contents inside of the application while offline,  allows me to share content and notifies of me of new feeds.

Can we have a developer get on these items? We can even  help market them. ha!

[ad#ad-1]

  • Thanks for sharing the apps you'd like to see in Ovi Store - all are very good ideas. Have you thought about pinging these companies asking them to make their sites/sevices available through Ovi Store apps?
  • Bill- thanks for reading. I think it is kind of pre-mature to start asking companies and solution providers to build apps for Ovi until the store has gained some grounds and the demand reaches similar iphone app store level. I understand that this will take sometime and we can't expect to have Nokia reach that level in the first few months but once it gets to that point then working with websites to make sure their app is available for Symbian devices would make sense.
