Is your smartphone one of the top selling phones in Q2?
The research firm IDC has compiled a preliminary list of the top-selling smart phones in the United States in the second quarter and the list seems to be accurate with what we say in general public.
You need to realize that this list ONLY counts vendor sales to carriers and channels rather than direct sales to end users and that these numbers will be finalized by IDC at the end of this month.
Here is the top 10 smart phones in the US in Q2:
10- HTC Toch Diamond – CDMA offered by Sprint Nextel and Verizon Wireless
9- HTC Touch Pro – CDMA & GSM offered by Sprint, Verizon, AT&T
8- Palm Pre – CDMA offered by Sprint
7 – HTC G1 – GSM offered by T-Mobile
6- Blackberry Storm – CDMA offered by Verizon
5- Blackberry Bold – GSM offered by AT&T
4 – Apple Iphone 3G- GSM offered by At&T
3- Blackberry Pearl- GSM & CDMA offered by AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon
2- Apple Iphone 3GS – GSM offered by AT&T
1- Blackberry Curve- GSM & CDMA offered by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon
I am not surprised that Nokia is absent from this list as Nokia smart phones are mainly sold directly to consumers via third party chains like Amazon or directly their website so it is hard to exactly figure out how many Nokia phones were sold in Q2.
The only thing on that list that surprised me was the Palm Pre at number 8. This flagship phone that was launched by Palm on June 6th has beat many estimates by analysts and is finally taking off. Of Course It is yet to seen if Plam can keep up the momentum and make a comeback!
