Ovi Maps Player Announcements
Exciting announcements in regards to Ovi maps are emerging from the Where 2.0 conference in San Jose, CA. Where 2.0 conference is the world’s biggest event focused on location aware technologies with representatives from the likes of Nokia, Google, Yahoo and Mapquest presenting the latest developments.
The Ovi team made couple important announcements. First moving forward Nokia maps will be called Ovi maps which means we are starting to see some results from all the work that Nokia team has put on this initiative over the past couple years. The second announcement is the introduction of the Ovi maps API which will lead to developers integrating Ovi maps into their applications. According to the post on Nokia Conversations , the API tool will enable developers to build powerful applications that will work seamlessly across desktops and mobile devices. According to the team, the API can be added to applications and websites with only “couple of lines of JavaScript”. I am not a developer but the process sounds easy to me
